I love the time around dawn. The light and colours have an other world feel to them and the solitude of the beach...awesome
Two Coasts – Tai Tama Tane and Tai Tama Wahine
This diptych features New Zealand’s West Coast and East Coast linked together with a Pikorau. The Pikorau is a Maori symbol of two shoots growing together indicating growth, unity and the joining of cultures.
The two coasts are not only linked together physically by the land they frame, but by the growth, unity and the joining of cultures amongst those who dwell in that land.
More than that, they are linked together by those inhabitant’s love and respect of the different coasts - the West Coast known as Tai Tama Tane with its masculine, rugged, untamed grandeur and the East Coast, Tai Tama Wahine, the female counterpart with its gentle bays and lapping waves.
Two coasts - many connections.
